In Sydney

hey kids. I’ve been a busy day for the past few days getting ready for Sydney, but now I’m finally here it’s all good.

This morning, I was up at 6, doing last minute things, and in the car by 6:15am. At Mum and Dad’s for 6:30am (still on time) before getting held up in traffic and not checking in until 7:15am. Unfortunately this means I missed my flight, but there was another one an hour later that they put me on instead. Can you say “Whew!”?

Tuesday was a pretty big day, spent the morning working on stuff before I drove to M&D’s to pick up Woo and a trailer. Woo had kindly volunteered to help me chuck some stuff out, so I put him to good use and we threw out the pile of old timber, some other junk, and the mattresses that have been a feature of my hallway for the last 6 months+.

We then drove it all to the dump near Keperra, and home again to M&D’s for family night. Gary and Ro had visited earlier in the day and had stayed for dinner, so it was an “extended” family night, and quite nice. Mum excelled herself in terms of culinaria as usual. I love going home on Tuesdays.

There’s some discussion as to whether to get another dog, or not, to keep Simba company. Simba has been as cute as balls lately, by the way, and probably getting treated extra well as a result. It’s easy for us humans in our high-intellect world to assume that dogs want company, but in fact, Simba seems almost *better* alone, because there’s no competition for resources (pats, treats, food and the like). Also, he’s 8 now, and doesn’t neccessarily need to “play” anymore either - he seems content to sleep, eat and be patted. And that’s what he’s getting right now, so is another dog such a good idea?

On the company for dogs point, remember the “old dog training the new dog” principal. Just look at Snout and Tara ;)
