as if to mock my words

Monday, April 30th, 2007

This morning, and last night, Chaz got much worse. The vet put him down this morning at 10am.

I’ll miss Chaz. He had an endearing enthusiasm for everything. He wasn’t a bright dog, but he was loyal, attentive and loving. I’ll especially miss his enthusiasm for dinner, and the way he got excited about the idea of going for walks, but didn’t so much enjoy the reality of said walks. He had a cute overbite and a funny bark, and loved pats from anyone, especially if a little piece of smacko followed.

And we’re back! Great weekend, Lara’s birthday party on Saturday, closing the long-awaited deal with Edward and Vivienne on Sunday, and dinner with the folks Sunday evening.

It’s amazing how much better Chaz is. He was bopping around yesterday like he was back to normal. That’s great news for the little guy.

Off to Sydney on Wednesday, back Friday night. I’ve got a lot to do before then though, you mark my words!

poor chaz

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Chaz had a seizure last night, yelped a few times, then peed himself and fell over. He was due for another insulin shot, so Mum gave him one, and the vet said to give him honey, which he was pleased about. He picked up quickly after that and ate voraciously. Poor boy.

In other news, I am tired. Very tired. I went to bed at 6:30pm last night, woke at 8am and generally don’t feel like much, which is a shame because Brenden’s sick today and I have no choice.

Happy Birthday Gayton

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

Today is the Lord of the Queens birthday: the gay man himself turns 28 today. I hope all your dreams of sweaty men wearing short shorts come true today dude, and that one day you find a sweaty man wearing short shorts of your very own. Have a good one.

In other news, Chaz is remarkably better. He even wagged his tail yesterday when Ben and Renae visited, probably because he remembers how many treats they crammed down his throat when he was healthy enough to eat them.

Also, Vivienne and I have acquired the rights to develop Edward’s software on our own now. This is a very big step, and exciting news for us.

Chaz sickness update

Friday, April 20th, 2007

The vet phoned, and reiterated that Chaz is a very sick little dog. They are measuring his blood glucose levels every few hours throughout the day. Normal is 3.9 - 6 and yesterday his was about 47 but today is 19. It is a good sign that it is dropping but it is still too high and the damage to liver and kidneys may be too great. He is just lying around, pretty still and without too much enthusiasm for anything at the moment.

busy busy busy

Things are going along a billion miles per hour since I’ve got back. Dinner with Rob and Nadia last night, lunch with Vivienne today, lunch with John L tomorrow, Saturday with Glara … crazy busy.

Chaz is sick, and at the vet’s overnight. Current guessing is pancreatitis, but that’s just guessing. I’ll post when I know more.

After 3 months of freezing and below temperatures in

the USA, and not getting so much as a sniffle, on my

first night in Bangkok I caught a cold.

Upon closer inspection it turns out my

airconditioning was set at 19 degrees C - nice

during the day, but far too cold at night. As such,

I caught a cold, and here I am.

Happy Birthday Nadia, btw. Hope you have a great day!

old El Paso

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2007

I’m about to spend my 2nd night in El Paso, Texas. I arrived here late in the afternoon yesterday, and checked in. I needed to be near a big airport so I can get the oil for my car changed *again*. I also took the opportunity today to run some errands and catch up on some stuff.

I’m pretty well, but I think I’m fatter than when I arrived. Tomorrow I’ve got to knock over a few hundred km on the way to Dallas, because I fly out of Dallas back to LA on Wednesday.

on the road again

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

It’s been a good day, folks. 489.77 miles down, having left Los Angeles, I’m now just otuside of Tucson, Arizona. I’ve got heaps of time to make it through to Dallas, at which point I fly back to Los Angeles. All to save a thousand bucks. I still think it’s worth it.
