So apologies to the non-poker-obsessed, but today’s blog entry concerns mostly poker. And a little bit about the Sydney trip, which I am still in the throes of.

Poker Story #1.
Playing a NL Texas Hold’em tourney on PP, allow me to set the stage. In Seat 1, buggmannklh2 has $1384. In Seat 3, POKERTOY111 has $2255. In Seat 4, I have $2700. Seat 8, dmdac has $3220.

Down cards come, I get [ 6h Ah ] in my hands. A-x suited is worth calling a small raise on, so I’m reasonably pleased with this hand. POKERTOY111 calls the big blind [40]. I call. dmdac raises to [100]. buggmannklh2 calls.
POKERTOY111 calls. I call.

Along comes the flop … [ 6d, 2d, 3h ] which gives me top pair, ace kicker. buggmannklh2 checks. POKERTOY111 checks.I bet the pot, [440]. buggmannklh2 calls.This is where things get wierd.

POKERTOY111 is all-In by raising to [2155]. I think to myself, “I have top pair, Ace kicker. He probably doesn’t have a higher paid, or he would’ve raised before the flop. I calls, and push [1715] more chips into the pot. buggmannklh2 then suprises me by also going all-In with his [844] remainging chips.

Cards are flipped, POKERTOY111 shows [ 6c, 6s ] three of a kind, sixes. Oh no! Little can save me now …

Turn comes [ Jh ]
River comes [ Qh ]

My [ 6h, Ah ] becomes a nut flush. buggmannklh2 shows [ 8c, As ] high card ace. (yeah good job going all in on that) … I win 1742 chips from side pot #1 with a flush, ace high. I win 4292 chips from the main pot with a flush, ace high. Player buggmannklh2 finished in 1224 place Player POKERTOY111 finished in 1223 place.

I’m sure Glenn would be ropable reading that story, considering he would’ve been the guy going all in with trip 6’s, with his current run of luck.

Poker Memo #2
Poker at M&D’s in my absence, starting at 7:30pm Wednesday night. Game is $10 entry Texas Holdem, winner-takes-all. Call me or Bryce if you’re interested.

Sydney is going well, although today is the first day without rain since I arrived. I’ve taken care of all the pre-event running around, so all I need to do now is hang banners etc, and then the show starts tomorrow. I went to the casino yesterday, but the waiting list for poker was crazy. I was 8th in line for 5/10 holdem, and 13th for no limit. I lost two spins on Black on the roulette wheel, and went home. That same money would’ve lasted for hours at poker.

Hello, and welcome to Thursday’s edition of the Musings. I stayed at M&Ds last night, because we had some poker there last night, and it was freezing. I got the start of a cold, it’s crazy.

So, yeah, poker last night was good - I lost, and in the cash game format, there were effectively 3 winners - Woo, Berny and Leyts all took more money than they came with. Blacky and I, didn’t. Had Foo for dinner with Blacky and Leyts … amazing value, we had 3 dishes, rice and spring rolls for $6 each. Whoa, again, Foo is great.

Today I had an appointment with my dietician, and another with the surgeon immediately afterwards. Here’s some gossip - turns out the dietician is married to the surgeon! Doesn’t that sound like a scam? Anyway, the only reason I found out is that it’s their anniversary today, and she rang him to forcefully suggest that he adjust my band tighter, which ruined the mood.
Ok, so Woo’s over here for tea tonight, and tomorrow is Friday, and Bryce’ll be home. I’m in Sydney next week, so I need to pull my finger out and do some preparation for it.
