   hi everyone
   still alive, but now in urumqi which is the furtherest city from the ocean in all directions in the world. been on the road for 2 weeks now and everything is becoming a bit of a blur except for what we did last hour, the food and the toilets.
   Urumqi is pretty nice for a town in the middle of nowhere. it has 3 million people thanks to a chinese government push to populate these western provincial areas. Urumqi is mongolian (?!) for beautiful plains and only an hour outside of town there are lush green fields with the backdrop of mountains. we drove out today and got to ride horses with the nomadic people. it’s quite strange. there are tents (yurks) on the mountain side surrounded by horses and sheep and then a few hundred metres away, there’s a chairlift for skiing. it will be sad when it is eventually built out for commercial profit although urumqi is a long way to come for skiing.
