Start spreadin’ it, dogs

Thursday, February 9th, 2006

Hello, dear friends, one and all. I’m in a pretty good mood today - first up, before I get down to any further business arising from our last meeting, I need to wish GWS to my Mum, who’s having some surgery today.

Now, onto business. Leyton has joined me in the seedy world of online poker tournaments - there’s a $1 tournament late afternoons that we’ve started hitting. Yesterday I beat about 1500 out of 2000, which wasn’t in the money, but I lasted way longer than Leyton, who did very well to claw his way back into the game after being huslted out of everything except 15 credits.

I’ve got my monthly Perf meeting tomorrow at 11am, so if I write it here, I won’t forget :) There’s a new 24 available, and Brek need to name the time that we’ll try to work towards. 24 is awesome. For the 24 heads, check out this:

It’s a “JackTracker” that tracks his movements as the show progresses. How cool is that?

I had a yarn with American Lisa yesterday - she’s doing well and enjoying life. It’ll be good to see her when I do the American trip next month. Godfrey was practically falling over himself to join me for that, despite having to sit next to me on the plane. I’ve suggested a few itineraries, but he still has some problems with logistics (ie girlfriend) before he’s ready to commit. Also, he didn’t like my itineraries and wants to do stuff that’s different. /sigh I guess the lessons that I’ve learnt are when you find something good - like New York, for example - you’ve got to hit it till it bleeds or you might find yourself in a crappy hotel in Los Angeles in single beds with no airconditiong.

what to do, what to do

Last night, I did something I’m not proud of … after a month of being “good” I hit Sizzler for dinner last night. I went a little crazy, not stupid crazy, but a little crazy. To the point where I felt sick. But it was good - I think that’s the last time I’ll ever do that. I’m not that person any more - it was a turning point. Blah blah blah, positive reinforcement.

So yeah. Guess what I got a delivery of yesterday? A dual-head airconditioner, for my room and Blacky’s room. That’s pretty exciting. Installation happens on Monday. Woot woot woot woot woot.

And America-related planning continues. It occurs to me that because I’m booking two seats, if anyone wants a free trip to America in exchange for sitting next to me on a crappy flight, that should be ok. You’d have to work on my stand for 4 days or so though. That’s the catch. :p

Blah blah blog blah

Hello all. It’s Lara Day today at work, and I was suprised that Leyton has showed up as well. Some crap about uni being too hard and he wants to quit medicine and work here. Or something :p

Man I’m tired - we decided to have family night last night instead of tonight, because I had an early morning doctors appointment on the north side. Never again, 7am is just too early. I had to scurry home to not leave Lara waiting, and got generally screwed around by the burst water main on Main street that closed the Stanley Street offramp, and generally made traffic a nightmare.

Last night’s family night, woo presented a bunch of brochures that he needs to deliver. Holy balls there were a lot of them. I collated pretty much straight through from 7pm to 10pm (with a short dinner break), Woo and Jake off and on till 10:30pm, and mum did it also for an hour or so. Crazy amount of work for comparitively little money.

Got woken up at around 2am this morning, by the dogs going crazy barking at a cat or something in the bushes. Dad was also awoken, so we went outside and scared the cat off, which allowed our poor babies to settle down and go back to sleep. Simba’s heart was pounding by the time we got it all finalised.

I’ve started to think about my (and Glenn’s) birthday, and have come to the sad realization that there’s probably no way it’ll be as good as last year, so I thought of some alternatives I might like:
Thai Phoenix for dinner, Ribbett’s for dinner, Casino for brunch, movies with pizza and rough red, that Indian place linda introduced me to, Sydney trip (I think Godez is in Sydney near 22nd) … anyone else have any ideas?

Choochanana

I had planned to spend today working out my borrowing capacity to buy the apartment upstairs, but instead, I’m not, because yesterday, I investigated what my income has been for July - December 2005. Let’s just say it’s a miracle that I’ve survived. Let’s all hear it for credit! But that changes today, I’m turning over a new leaf. To be honest, December and January were very slim pickin’s for TT, but February could be huge - some very large renewals, and several medium-sized enquiries from new customers. That’ll put a positive slant on things, I think.

Charlotte’s birthday party yesterday was lovely, and also yesterday was an impromptu family get-together at the Foo. I’ve updated the ChucklerCAM picture with one of the cutest pictures I think I’ve ever seen.

Oh, also, did anyone else notice Glenn’s pink entry? Fruity. :p Sorry mate, pick another colour and I’ll make it happen. Oh, I’ve also given Berny publishing rights on the blog, I need to tell him how to do that at some stage.

Charlotte’s Party

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

Yeah, OK, it’s been ages since I’ve posted on Chuckler. In fact, I think the last time was to show off some ultrasound pictures of Charlotte…which makes it over 2 years ago.

So what’s the rationale for this entry? Letting the SLC crew know that we can’t make lunch this Sunday as we are having family around for Charlotte’s birhtday, and I thought it would be easier than remembering people’s email addresses.

The family thing is for lunch, but if people want to come over after that (any time in the afternoon) for a swim, afternoon tea etc., that would be cool. I think Dean scored an invite to the family deal - he is Uncle Dean after all - so he can choose his time of arrival at his whim.

Give me a call/SMS if you need any more details.

TP for my bung hole

Thursday, February 2nd, 2006

Dudes, I gotta tell ya, I am majorly bummed out that today’s Thursday … I thought it was Friday for sure. I was up late, as you know, calling Americanos and discussing things with them. I need to get seriously moving on the stupid tradeshow things too … Edward is going to pay the $7500 up front for the show stand, so that’s a big help.

I gotta go to KMart like today, and get new soda stream cannisters. That’s a big priority at the moment. As is going to the post office, and setting up a wireless network here at home.

Happy Birthday to Charlotte today, she’s 2 or something. I hope she has a memorable day, and one day decides to read this page on her virtual reality internet glasses and see how boring life was for Uncle Dean the day she turned two.

Panned out

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

Well, my junk delivery panned out pretty well. Monday, I picked up my piles of junk which was bundled by the hundred. It took over most of the table while we folded it all. I loaded them into the green-bags which are commonly used for shopping, which would then rest in the milk crates on the bike. Each bag weighed in at about 10kg, which is a fair bit of paper I can assure you. Furthermore, they took ages to fold.

The crates seemed to be holding up as I rode away from home, however, when you’ve got 30kilos mostly behind your axle, and balanced over the tiny footprint of a bike tyre, they start swinging side to side, or yo wheely uncontrollably with every pedal uphill. Most of the time I walked the bike, just cos it was much easier to manage.

Ther was a downhill stretch, so I saddled up and began the descent, and got a few houses down, when, over a sizeable bump, the left crate fell off, spilling its contents across the driveway that it fell on, and sending its contents down the hill. Awesome. So I called mum to come and get me. I finished off the street, ripped the remaining crates off and put em in the car to ride home.

So, a new plan was needed. I surveyed my map, and decided to park the car at a junction of 3 pre-planned routes, which would be the stockpile. After finishing a leg, I could re-stock and commence a new route. Bright and early Tuesday morning, I put it into practice, and it worked well. Like a charm if I do say so myself.

I only did about half, before going home for a rest. I finished the rest off later that afternoon, which was kinda silly, because I took this on to do more exercise, and I finished it all in one day, so now, I have to be self-disciplined, which I’m not, so I’ll end up sitting on my fat can writing on here.

There had been plans to go and see an awesome pipe organ on Saturday, but those plans changed unfortunately, and the re-scheduling has put it back to when I’m in Rocky, which I’m a little bummed about :( I think the pipe organ is one of, if not, my favourite instruments, and I relish the chance to play and/or hear them in person, so this is quite the shame.

Karen and Ben dropped in for lunch today, which was nice. Karen’s presence reminded me to buy a new brush to keep my flat-top in pristine condition, which I did. We shall see how it performs.

And that’s about it for now. Better find myself something else to do in the 4 weeks before uni starts.

Wednesday blues

Wednesday, February 1st, 2006

Well, I don’t think poker will fly, there’s just not enough interest. Bum. Ah, well, nevermind. At least we’ll have last year to remember fondly.

As usual, I’ve got a lot to do, and little time to do it. Something’s wrong with our MYOB file, and Leyton’s coming over to look at it before I bodgy the solution and we start fresh.

I hate accounts. :(
Had a good family night last night - mum made dinner, and for desert, a flummery-type thing, which was quite deliciosa. I’ll probably be up late tonight, knocking over a few things, so please, no early morning calls from those that have been previously found guilty.
