Cheesecake shop was closed :(

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Dinner at John’s last night was great. We even watched a Sopranos ep. I don’t want to jinx it, but I think Tony B might be in trouble soon. Federal, pound-me-in-the-ass prison. :noes:

Speaking of that, is it common knowledge that Molly Meldrum is gay? How did I not know that until Blacky told me last night watching the Glass House? I thought he was just found of the double entendre, but apparently he’s fond of more than that, if you catch my drift. :naughty: Oh, speaking of television, TSLOU tonight. I’m going to try not to miss it, like I did last week.

I’m getting old - it’s official. So is Glenn. He sent me this email:
Are you cool with the proposed pubTAB arvo on the 19th? I think it is
most likely to be at the Regatta, because they should have decent food,
good beers, relatively comfy seating (downstairs was pretty cosy) and TAB
facilities. The only other place I thought of is Dooley’s in the
Valley…I assume they have a TAB but I’m not sure.

What are your thoughts?
Glenn

to which I replied:
yeah aight.
I’d like to have dinner at the foo on one of the nights around then
too.

to which he replied:
How do you think it would work if we were at the pub in the arvo and then
Foo for dinner on the same night? I’ll be happy to leave the pub once the
decent races are over (sometime between 5 and 6). That way people who
don’t want to come to the pub can meet us for dinner, or vice versa….

and before you know it, we’ve got ourselves a plan. Regardless of your activities on Saturday 19th, there’s sure to be a spot somewhere in the day that you can spare to either share a beer or some rice with myself and/or Glenn. Cigars at M&D’s place afterwards, too, assuming they will extend an invitation. I’ll bring the stogies, someone else bring the cognac.

I’m Back

Thursday, February 10th, 2005

Hey everyone,

It’s a long time since I’ve written anything here, but I don’t think you’ve missed out on much. Let’s see, there was a gas leak and A Flock of Seagulls…no, wait that was the 1980’s.

Chuckler and I are currently making plans for a birthday extravaganza, so make sure you keep the 19th Feb free, and possibly a night on either side in case there are irreconcilable differences and we need to have two birthday events. Either way, there will be more details provided shortly.

In the meantime, here’s a more recent photo of Charlotte. I think the last one I put on here was from the ultrasound….

Charity Work

Wednesday, February 9th, 2005

Oops, I missed my entry yesterday. Sorry about that, but I had other things to worry about. Work not paying me on Monday, for example. Hmm.

The weekend was a good one. Let’s see - 24 is good, Bek and Leyton came around for that on Saturday night, and then we played 500. Bek and I lost. :happysad: Brett had been to a housewarming or something, and joined us later for Puerto Rico. Then Brek left and Leyton stayed to watch Sideways. 3am when I got to bed.

Slept until Glenn buzzed from downstairs with Charlotte. We had a day of bumming around, not doing much - we watched In Good Company and a few episodes of Pimp My Ride. Lara came around a little later, but wasn’t very well, and they had to leave. I did nothing much else Sunday night.

Monday was where the real action was. I took my car to Ford for repairs, and then had breakfast “out” on the way home. Was going to meet John L for lunch at Park Road, and was going to catch a train, but the incredible heat, and the pocketful of change I still had left from the incident breaking open the piggy bank a while ago convinced me that a cab pulling just outside my building anyway wasn’t justa coincidence. We had sushi for lunch, and Tina joined us. I’m having dinner at their place tonight, which I haven’t seen before.

Also trialled the new-format family night on Monday. Picked up Mum from work, and went home via the grocery store to purchase ingredients for pasta. I ran into Miranda (Deakin?) who I knew from my days at Singin’ in the Rain, who now works on some kid’s show at 9. Nice to see her. Mum and I got home with a load of pasta-esque ingredients, only to find Berny already making the same pasta we were planning on making. Snap! Dinner was v. good, and I went home at a reasonable hour.

And that’s pretty much it, except for yesterday, which wasn’t worth writing about. Got some stuff done on the websites, but I still haven’t finalized quotes for Rob and Chris.

24 Premiere Confirmation

Friday, February 4th, 2005

Yes, yes. I know you’re all excited to hear the confirmation of the 24 Season 4 Premiere at my place tomorrow. To quote my earlier announcement with the details:
Announcing … the 24 season 4 premiere at my place! I was thinking Saturday 5th February, at about 7:30pm. Eat dinner beforehand, and I’ll provide icecream and snacks. BYO drinks. So exciting!

Last night, speaking of exciting, was tres great. Rob and Nadia are great hosts. Their new hound, Tara, is growing VERY quickly, and is hilarious in an unco, huge puppy kinda way. :)
It’s just Edward and I here at the office today, so that’s … quiet. I don’t like quiet days at work.

Gamblor

Thursday, February 3rd, 2005

Ungh. That’s the word of the morning. I got woken up by American clients 6 times last night. Not a very … productive … night, sleepwise. That’s why I was late to work this morning.

The Gambling night was ok. The first game, Poker Rummy, was what you might call “boring” for the 4 or so who were out early. I don’t think the rules as they were played were entirely right, either. A quick search of google was no help in confirming this theory.

When we broke into Texas Hold’Em, the night was much more fun IMO. Bek/Brett, Leyton, Berny, Woo, Blacky and I were the players. Blacky and Woo did well. Everyone else did somwhere between average and bad.

Tonight I’m going to Rob and Nadia’s. That should be good. I won’t stay too late though … I really need some sleep.

Charlotte the Harlot

Happy First Birthday to Charlotte. Hope you got lots of good baby crap.

Very exciting news today - I busted open my change tin. $71.45, which isn’t bad I don’t think. It certainly helped to kill about 5 minutes.

Gambling tonight - Glenn probably won’t make it, what on account of Charlotte’s birthday today and all, but we should still have 5 or so, easily enough for a fun night. I forgot that I’d been booked for Rob & Nadia’s for dinner tonight, but they graciously allowed the date to be changed to tomorrow. Whew, close call. More unreliable-ness.

Having lunch with Leyton today. Also, made a solemn vow to use the chuckler.org calendar more, so I forget less important events. Also, so I can look back on them when I’m old and frail.

Spoke with the Snod last night, before his Melbourne girly rang and he had to cut our conversation short. :puke: John rang and we’re having lunch on Monday. I’m also taking my car to get fixed on Monday too.

Tee hee hee

Tuesday, February 1st, 2005

Tee hee hee - this is a friend’s girlfriend, and I turned her into a pirate. Tee hee hee.

I’m thinking of having an informal gambling night on Wednesday at my place. Poker Rummy, Pot the Bitch … fun games :) not serious poker. Anyone interested? So far: Woo, cousin Berny, Blacky and I are down. Glenn? Brek? Leyton? We can order pizza for dinner. It won’t be a late night - let’s say 10:30pm tops. From 7pm. Be there, or be square.

Oh, and remember 24 is starting this weekend, for those that care
Great weekend just passed. I was too busy on Friday to get a blog entry in, so sorry about that. This week I’m *apprently* spending most of my time in the lab at work, so I’m not sure if there’ll be time for entries each day of this week either.

Saturday I headed over to Rob Wilson’s place for breakfast and to help him out with his website - casadellawilson.com is now looking very, shall we say, purty. Then Glara came around that afternoon for a swim and a chat. The boys later played SoC and then we ate Thai food from the place down the road. It was good. :)
M&D got home Friday night, so that explains why I was late to RobW’s place. And I was late picking M&D up, but only because their plane was early. Ahem. When did I get this unreliable?

Sunday I went to M&D’s where there was a big family lunch at the Foo on. Great day - G&R were along, as well as B&K and their kids, and M&D. I spent the afternoon working on websites, and went home with enough time to watch the cricket, even though Blacky whinged and wanted to watch the tennis. Whatever.

Oh, and does there need to be so much coverage of Leyton Hewitt’s engagement? Goddamm, shut up, stupid media. We don’t care.

Yesterday, my Monday projects came along. Very close on 2 of them, which is better than miles away on 3 of them.
