Comeback trail

My goony-goo-goo!

It has been a long time since I have been on a computer long enough to write up something for y’all to read. I’ve been pretty busy, which will probably come as a shock to many of you, but, a lot has happened.

Let’s go back to December. Late one Thursday night, Jake and I decided to go to town to grab a kebab. When that was done and dusted, we decided to go to the gold coast, just for gags, and on the way, saw a sign to Sydney, and we kept going. We drove all night and got to Sydney at about 2pm, parked the car under the opera house, and did touristy things. Home time came, and we drove, and drove and drove - Sydney is a shocking place to drive. We got 5 minutes from our destination, and the timing belt snapped on the car. Dam.

Our overnight trip qiuckly escalated to a weekend at that point. We were staying at our cousins’ house, who graciously put us up. Monday came, and the car required more work, as the timing belt is a serious injury to a car. Long story short, a week passed by and Jake had to go home, because he had to work, and they effectively threatened him with his job if he didn’t go back to work. I stayed on, expecting to drive the car back as soon as it was ready. Another week went by, and Christmas was 3 day away, car wasn’t reliabley ready, so I organised a flight home.

Had a lovely Christmas eve and day at home with all the family. On boxing day,I left for a 3 week CEBS camp at Victoria. The camp was as good as can be expected. The Queenslanders took a tour in a bus on the way down, stopping at a lot of places. We went a good way inland, which was the first time I’d been that way - indeed, this was the first time I’d been to Victoria. The camp itself started on New Year’s Day. People from all over Australia were there.

We did some pretty crazy activities. One of my favs was what they call “The Leap of Faith”. There’s a 30 metre high Abseiling tower, and on the side, about half way up, there’s a platform, about 20cm wide, and 2 feet long. About 2 metres away, at head height, there’s a trapeze handle, and you leap out and grab that, then try and swing your legs up so you’re hanging upside down by your knees. You face down, and point one arm at the ground, they count you down and you straighten your knees, sending you plummeting to the ground, and they stop you about a metre before the ground. Pretty good rush.

So that was the cebs camp. I got back on the 14th, and went to Kingaroy for the weekend with Jake. I threw my boomerang a few times, and then lost it in the top of a bush with huge spikes; spewin’. But don’t worry - we got it back. We had some big canasta games that night, and our team won - go team.

Since then, Berny and Karen (the cousins who I stayed with in Sydney) and their kids have sold their house in Sydney, and have moved to Brisbane. They’ve signed the contract on a place and are presently living here while everything sorts out.

Oh, I got accepted back into my course at uni too, so raise the roof for me.

Jake is moving to Rocky to pursue study and we’ve been helping him pack his gear up. It’ll be so sad to see him go, cos I’ll have to find someone else to do stupid things and waste money with. If you read this Jake, that’s a compliment mate.
