Cocktail Party Madness

Well, my little Deankateers, the weekend was great. I suppose it all started on Friday night, when I stayed at home doing nothing. Then, early Saturday morning, Rob and Nadia called to say that they were on their way to the markets, if I wanted a lift. I did. Rob dropped Nadia at work (poor Nad :frown:) and then stopped at Chez Chuckler to pick me up. It was a good markets - I got muffins, tomatos and chicken jerky dog biscuits. Breakfast afterwards with the group, at Harvey’s of course, and I had their fabulous grilled corncake. Sooo good. Served with avocado, tomato and coriander. :yum:

Anyway, I had nothing really important to do that mid-afternoon, so Rob hijacked me to install a new router at his Stafford office. I went along, poked my nose where it wasn’t needed, offered advice that wasn’t needed and generally made a nuisance of myself, and then we visited M&D, where in this case, D stands for Dogs, Dad not being home. They’re renovating their bathroom, so I’ll get some good mileage out of my website design work over the next few weeks.

So, Rob dropped me back at my place, and I bought the cocktail party booze from the bottleshop next door. Here’s something funny: they had West Coast Coolers on special, so I bought a six pack. They’re just as sweet and non-potent as you’d imagine. Still, at least they were on sale.

There was television coverage of the Junior Nine-Ball pool championship that afternoon, and it was riveting. In Nine-Ball, there’s only the first nine balls on the table, and as soon as the 9-ball is sunk, the game is over. The catch is that you have to play at the other balls in order. For example, if the 1-ball is on the table, you need to hit that ball first. If you hit the 1-ball, and it ricochets into the 9-ball and sink that, you win. Very interesting game, especially when it can be over with one good break.

Glara’s cocktail party was a hoot. I don’t want to go into too much detail: what happens at the cocktail party, stays at the cocktail party. :naughty: Glenn started to feel a little off-colour towards the end of the night, I hope he pulled up ok. Lara did a fabulous job of putting the party to bed though. The Sing Star got a complete workout, and there were some unbelievable scores. Hooooo mamma.

Blacky woke me at 1pm the next day in desperate need of panadol. It’s probably best he woke me - I would’ve slept for ever and screwed my chances of ever getting to work on time today. And then you wouldn’t have this blog entry, so everyone tell blacky how grateful you are next time you see him, ok?

It was a day spent entirely in my pajamas, and I made massaman curry for dinner. It turned out ok, and I tried as best I could to leave enough leftovers for 2 in the fridge for lunch today. Woohoo!
