Amway

Thursday, September 16th, 2004

I feel a bit sick today - pizza always does that, but like the fool I am, I keep coming back for more. I’m a sick, sick individual.

And a junk food addict, of late. Tuesday night, Glara came out with me for $10 Indian buffet. That was nice - I think Glenn’s going to be organizing something for the football watching on Saturday, but I don’t want to cut his lunch, so that’s all I’ll say about it.

Today I’m having lunch with Leyton and Tim R at Sizzler’s, for some reason. Maybe I’ll get lucky and they’ll tell me about the benifits of Amway. :fingersx:

Buzzwords

Wednesday, September 15th, 2004

Buzzwords are perfectly cromulent in everyday use to embiggen the message behind your text. But seriously. These last few days have been crazy busy. I’ve hardly been on the computer to write a bit or piece. Jake and I had been spending long hours fiddling around with our cars putting central locking in, which I’m happy to say is completely complete on my car.

The weekend also involved another lot of phonebook delivery, which was good exercise. I quite enjoyed doing it, cos it was with mates, and it was a lovely day. A little later that day though, me and two other mates found ourselves in ridiculous getups. I’d go so far as to say we were in drag - but REALLY crappy drag. We were doing a gag act called “The Fellas Breggiere” (sic) which was a parody of Les Folies Bergere. It was a good shock value act that only went for a minute, and featured 3 blokes making knobs of themselves. What could be wrong with that? Perhaps you should neither consider nor answer that question.

The last few days I’ve mostly hung out with Jake. He borrowed our trailer and used it to buy a new bed base, and we also took it to Capalaba where he was picking up some sweet stereo deals. We finished off his car later on Tuesday.

I’m looking for a toolbox to start keeping my hardware in. I’ve got plans for rearranging our workroom a bit to be more useful, like with the board that you hang your tools on, and a bench that can actually be used. Perhaps I can only dream.

The Long Weekend

Tuesday, September 14th, 2004

Hey, I know that it’s been a while since I rapped at ya, but I’ve been partying to within an inch of my life. There are pics from Sydney if you click “Continue Reading” on the webpage. If you’re reading this in your email, you miss out on the pics, sorry
Friday was my first day off, and I went and got a mohawk. It was awesome, I loved it. There was a free poker tournament later that morning, at which I came about 58th. That was ok. Then I went to get my license renewed.

Oh, man the license photo is hilarious. I’ll show it to you next time I see you, if you remind me. I headed over to M&Ds and Mum and I went out for dinner at Fasta Pasta, which was ok. Pretty funny really, as we enjoyed people’s reactions to my outrageous hair style.

Saturday I bludged around a bit, slept in as much as possible, and had lunch with Leyton at the Qantas lounge (Leyton drove me to the airport). I caught the train to the Lowenbrau for the party, and had a blast. The 1L steins of beer you can see pictured were $16.50, which was on the expensive side, but they were great. I ate a Pork Knuckle, which was good too. I vaguely recall winning the beer-sculling comp, mostly because I saw the picture which jogged my memory. Next thing, it’s 5 in the morning, we’re sitting around, completely hammered, in a strip club on Pitt Street, and another interstate guy and me shared a cab to the airport. The wait for the plane was pretty painful, as the sun was starting to come up. I met perhaps the most georgeous air hostess in the world (her name was Donna, for those who are interested) and promptly fell asleep. Caught a cab back to my place and slept till 3pm Sunday.

Sunday evening I went to a bbq at Chris Hall’s place. It was nice - John and Tina were there, and I got maximum bragging rights on the haircut. That was a good night.

I slept in as much as possible on Monday (which wasn’t much, because Mum woke me up) and veged out in front of the computer, recovering. Leyton and I went to the pub for lunch - I had this great lasagne - and later I picked Mum up for an early family night at M&D’s.

Family night tonight is off - I can’t say why - but if anyone would like $10 Indian buffet, I’d like the company.

Wacky Ideas

Thursday, September 9th, 2004

I’m going to Sydney this weekend for a party, which I’m pretty stoked about. It’s at the Lowenbrau, which looks pretty awesome in my opinion.

I figured that I should write down my flights somewhere, and this is my webpage, so I’m doing it here.
dep BNE 11-Sep 1610 arr 1740
dep SYD 12-Sep 0605 arr 0730

So that’s done.

I’m on annual leave tomorrow, so try not to be jealous when I’m lazing around watching television in my pajamas. That’s not entirely true, unfortunately. I have to get my driver’s license renewed. And before I can do that I have to get a haircut. I’m tempted to get a mohawk, just for the driver’s license and the party, and then shave it off afterwards. Anyone have any opinion on this wacky idea?

Uplifting Message

Tuesday, September 7th, 2004

Did people see that hilarious picture of Snod yesterday? If you didn’t, seriously check it out.. :thefinger:

I’m in a pretty good mood today - Tuesdays are generally pretty good days, as I leave work at 4:30pm to get mum for family night. That’s right mum, you get a lift without even asking.
So … my project more-or-less finished last night at about 7pm, when M&A took the materials so carefully packed up for them, and disappeared into the night. All that’s required now is to get them some Euro-money to take with, and that’s that. Naturally, there’s the worry that everything’s going ok, the worry that things are progressing and so forth, but it’s ok. I’m calm.

Oh, and this little picture makes me laugh, and sends a positive message as well. Enjoy:
You're Awesome

Busy supreme

Monday, September 6th, 2004

What a busy-ass weekend. Saturday morning I was up bright and early to go and deliver phone books. It was a thing to help raise funds for a local school’s chaplaincy program. Pete and I went and collected the Cebs trailer and then headed off to the place at Banyo. They loaded a pallete of 400 white pages into the trailer which had some serious weight.

We did a huge area. I reckon we walked 10km’s, while carrying 4 kilos of phone books. Saturday night I went to a mate’s place for a small gathering for his 22nd birthday. He lives with two Fillipinos, one of which is a chef, and he made craploads of food. They shooed off to the valley, at which time I headed home - it was just down the road.

Sunday morning was my commissioning to be a leader at Cebs. I got my leader badge and these cool rank stripes to wear on my shoulders. Afterwards, half a dozen of us went to Chermside shopping centre and had a lovely time eating sushi and having a nice chat. Jake came over to be “pseudo son” cos his family is in Mackay, before we went to Jaycar. We’d been discussing for a while about having central locking, and the kits were $34.95, so we bought one each.

Went to Jess’s and picked her up before going to Jake’s place. Had a really nice bbq dinner there, before going to Sherwood. It was a tiring event.

Today was a chance to relax for most of the day. This afternoon I made russian fudge. It’s still setting in the fridge, but it tastes great. Then I had to run off to a rehearsal for the “Olde Time Music hall” concert next weekend. We’ll be making utter knobs of ourselves, which should be grand. I’m tired now. I may or may not try to find my immobiliser module tomorrow to help with installing my central locking kit.

A Monday Musing

Monday, September 6th, 2004

A little late in the day for the Musings, I know. Things here have been busy - M&A, friends of the work-family, are heading to Barcelona on our behalf for a tradeshow, and I’m responsible for the send off. Lots of work to be done.

That’s not to say that the weekend was a “no-funner”. It wasn’t - in fact I’d go so far as to say it was “plenty fun”.

Firstly, though … Welcome back to Brek - hope you guys enjoyed your ski, and are back to work in good spirits.

Leyton came around on Friday night for a hashed-up AFL-thing on the bigscreen, watching the Lions murder the Saints brutally. According to the finals calculator that I “borrowed” from the AFL website:
AFL Ladder for the Finals
it looks like Brisbane will be meeting Sydney or Port Adelaide in the Grand Final. I wasn’t brave enough to pick a winner out of the Sydney/Port Semi, as you can probably see in the picture.

Saturday I slept in a bit, and then got a nice call from Mum who was bored. I went around to keep her company, and while there, decided to install Dad’s Father’s Day present (a new DVD player) and see if he’d notice before Sunday, Father’s Day proper.
(Sidebar your honour? My American readers should know that we celebrate Father’s day on a different day to them. I don’t know why. )
He didn’t. Anyway, Mum’s boredom was shortlived when Woo came home and she had the opportunity to go shopping and leave me there, bored and alone at their house. I went home and installed my own new DVD player (same model  ) and watched “Starsky and Hutch” thereon. It was quite a good remake, and was sufficiently funny as to make time pass by. I made dinner on Saturday night (if you could call it that) which was the cheapest meal ever made. Cup-a-Soup with pasta in it. mmm, tasteless. :ugh: I don’t remember what else happened Saturday night. Can’t have been too late I guess.

Sunday, Blacky made breakfast, which I agreed to, even before thinking that Mum had probably cooked brunch for father’s day. D’oh - oh well, I had two breakfasts. We’d “wrapped” the DVD player for dad by putting the remote control in an Evans and Tate wine bottle box, and giving him that. I think he was sufficiently fooled.
Sunday afternoon, I headed home and had an early night. Mistake though - I was up at 4am, killing time on the internet. Got back to sleep though, luckily, and came into work more-or-less on time.

Fascinating

Friday, September 3rd, 2004

I’ve been looking at hundreds of pictures of giant spiders. I saw this picture of a giant green spider attached to this guy’s arm (it’s about as long as his forearm), but it wasn’t like anything I’d ever seen, and in my quest for knowledge, particularly about the unusual and creepy critters, I searched through hundreds of links of pictures of spiders trying to find it. I think I may have, but, I can’t be sure. So that was fun.

I tried to sleep at midnight last night, and tossed and turned in bed until 1am, so I got up and looked at some spiders, and wrote some articles for the Cebs newsletter about recent activities - the spit roast, cricket in the nets, and montezuma’s. Hopefully that’ll give me a bit of credit.

Tonight is Cebs, and we’re making sweets, such as Toffee and Fudge. I can’t wait. I’ve just gotten out of the shower, and I impressed myself with how close a shave I got. Why can’t I do that every time?

Wrong emotion, stupid!

Friday, September 3rd, 2004

I had a crappy day yesterday. I don’t really know why, all I know is that I felt furious, but I don’t know who/what at, or why I felt that way. It was wierd. The job I had to do yesterday was pretty unpleasant, but I mean … furious? Stupid brain, that’s the wrong emotion for the situation. Even chocolate for afternoon tea didn’t help, but icecream when I got home from work did.

Leyts came around at about 8:30pm or something and we watched Joe Schmo. Finished it, except for the post-show interviews and stuff. It was quite good, and fun. Blacky was annoyed that he had to go to bed, just as they were announcing the winner.

I’m tired today … I slept in a bit and didn’t get to work until about 10am. And I’m in a funny mood today, a bit ditzy but generally happy. I don’t think I’ve got any specific plans for the weekend, but in a perfect world I’d like to watch the Lions on the bigscreen tonight if I can get it.

Oh, and all the best to R&N. :ok:
