I almost forget the subject line AGAIN!

Yo, yo, sportsfans. Huge weekend-o’-fun, let me tell you about it.

Friday night was the grand poker tournament. I won $50, so that was pretty good. Bryce went home, but Blacky, Snod and I convinced Glenn to drive us to a girly bar on his way home. Very average night. Went to a few pubs before heading home.

Bright and early, shite and surly, Snod and I hit the markets, thanks to a lift from Rob and Nadia. I bought some new curry blends that should be good to try out. I might give one to Mum. The market crew hit Harveys at New Farm for breakfast, and I had the crappiest omelette ever. At Harveys? I was like, wtf? Blacky and Snod were going to the races, and I dropped them off on the way to M&D’s, where they were getting ready for a weekend jaunt to Sydney. The timing was good, because when I dropped M&D at the airport, Snod and Blacky were finished at the races, so I picked them up on the way through. Easy, eh?

The three of us then decided to go to Montezuma’s for tea, and actually got a reservation. Godez and I shared a litro of sangria and Blacky drove my car home, dropping Godez off on the way.

Sunday was a day of chores … washing, cleaning, playing Singles on the PC … until heading over to Rob and Nadia’s for dinner. Was fantastic as usual - Nadia had to work on Monday though, so it was a pretty early night, but when I got home, Leyton was there, and then Brek turned up, and then Tim came over … turned into a bit of a gathering. We played Princes of Florence, which Tim was too late to join in on, and then people went home. Leyton stayed and chewed the fat for a while, but I think he was (not very)secretly hoping for a game of Puerto Rico.
Monday was a great day, public holiday-wise. Picked up Godez and we arranged to meet Brek for lunch at Harveys in New Farm. Was a great lunch … we had champagne, salad, bread and coffee/desert and then decided to pop-in on Glenn and Lara.

They were getting their shit together for a garage sale, and I acquired a stack of books and a bbq for $70. Had dinner with Godfrey’s parents and then picked M&D up at the airport. Great day.

Well, soccer was interesting …

Friday, June 11th, 2004

Well, soccer was interesting … we lost. And then a couple of us stayed back to play a scratch game against some guys whose opposition didn’t turn up. We were all buggered, and predictably, lost that one too. I have sore knees/legs and elbows.

Tonight! Glenn has indicated interest in poker, Bryce is out. Glenn was also interested in the Lions on Saturday night … I’d be interested in stealing work’s projector if at all possible. Who will step up and organize something?

Tomorrow is the markets … I’m definately down for that, and if Snod is conscious at my place, he may be in too. Must call Rob and see if he and Nad are going.

Poker on Friday?

Thursday, June 10th, 2004

Holy crap I’m tired. What’s been going on?

Monday night I played soccer, and we played the biggest bunch of wankers on the planet. They played rough. Anyway, one of them slide-tackled into me, and I got a penalty for it, but the guy who I got the penalty against starting swearing at the ref. The ref gives him a yellow card, but the guy doesn’t shut up. The ref gives him a red card, and the wanker walks off giving the ref the finger and ranting like a madman. Then another guy has a close decision go against him, picks up the ball and boots it into the grandstand. Another yellow card for timewasting. He walks off. We’re all standing around going, “wtf mates? it’s just a game” and we proceed to get flogged 10-2.

Bryce, Woo and my cousin Berny came around on Monday night and we whipped through a few board games. Princes of Florence and Carcassonne. Oh, and foosball, which is now a given.

Tuesday, Bryce and Leyton were around for lunch which was cool. Tuesday night I went for family night where little kids were sick. I was a bit :ugh: about hanging out with sick people, and I eventually left.

Wednesday was boring. But now’s the time to start planning for the weekend. Oh, soccer tonight with the good team, 6pm.

Friday night I’m thinking of a poker night. Who’d be interested in that? Not too late, because Saturday is a market morning. Saturday there’s some racing carnival on we might go to. I’m sure there’s a Lions game to watch at some stage, and it’s a long weekend so we have to party extra hard.

Super Dorky Weekend

Monday, June 7th, 2004

So 24 was on Friday. A bit anti-climactic, really. Still there were some cool bits, not going into anything too much, don’t want to give out any spoilers for any googlers who hit the site. If you’re specifically looking for spoilers, I recommend googling “24 Episode Guide”. That’ll help you out.

The chicken portions were, as expected, a complete PITA. Never again. The curry was ok, I guess, but the bones ruined it in many ways.

After 24, Bryce bailed, and a scratch game of Puerto Rico sprang up. I forget who won, but I got pantsed. Brek left us after that, say about 1:30am, and we decided to learn a new game - Settlers of Catan, which was one of my new games delivered on Friday morning at work. It’s cool, but we didn’t finish until about 4:30am. Leyton and Godez left then, and I went to bed - I had a big day on Saturday and this was not a good way to start it.

Saturday I picked up my cousin and his wife and 2 kids from the airport - they’re staying with M&D for a few days. The youngest, Ben, aged 18 months is hilarious. He’s such a boy … most people with kids who visit us seem to have girls, and they’re generally timid around our dogs. Ben wasn’t AT ALL timid, and made a game where he could look at Chaz, and stamp his foot on the floor which made Chaz furious. He’d bark and bark, and Ben thought that was hilarious. When he tired of that, he made a new game where he’d run from door to door trying to trick Chaz into going to the wrong door to bark at him. It was actually quite hilarious to watch.

About lunchtime, I called Godez, and we arranged to go and see The Punisher at Chermside. We got to Chermside early, and browsed Amart All Sports before grabbing a coffee. While finishing the coffe, we generally agreed to skip the movie and go back to my place and veg out instead. Which we did, until the Lions came on. The original plan was to watch the game at a girly bar, but when Leyton indicated that he also wanted to watch the game, but wasn’t into girls, we stayed home and watched it on the projector.

Shortly after, another board game was cracked open, and before you know it, it was after 2am. Has an amusing escapade when some dudes came into our house thinking that it was theirs. They were pretty wasted, and lived upstairs from us. We could tell by the loud music that then played all night. Snod stayed over and Leyton went home.

Sunday, Blacky made breakfastand we all sat around watching TV. Eventually, Godez and I went for lunch and then did some grocery shopping. Then we headed over to Chermside (again), to actually watch the movie we bailed on yesterday. It was pretty good - for what it was - a Marvel comic made into a movie. I remember the computer game, and I always thought it’d make a great movie, and it wasn’t too bad. I’ve seen worse ;) After the movie, dropped Godez home and went to M&D’s for dinner. Got tired quickly, and after dinner went home for Criminal Intent. Went to bed.

Playing soccer tonight for the new team. Should be good, I’m feeling pretty good today. Edward’s gone to Sydney, so it feels like last week. :naughty:

Goodbye, chicken portions!

Friday, June 4th, 2004

24 tonight  Shall we say 6-6:30pm-ish?

Soccer last night was a win … 10-5. Had 7 players. I’ve also been asked to play for some of the guy’s Monday night game, and I gleefully accepted, so now I’m Monday and Thursday nights indoor soccer boy. I’ll be fit in no time

Anyone got any plans for the weekend? I guess it’s about time we started thinking about it. Saturday night is Brisbane vs Port Adelaide in the AFL, Sunday afternoon is Broncos vs Cronulla. Maybe if Glenn was interested in a Princes of Florence lesson, we could teach him and Godez in one go? Get a 5-player game of that going? Bryce and/or Leyton could be talked into it I think.

Got chicken defrosting on the sink right now for the curry tonight. I’m getting rid of the “chicken portions” that mum made me buy - so everyone expect to eat their chicken from bones. Sorry, it’s just the way things have to be.

Send good vibes to Chaz

Thursday, June 3rd, 2004

Before going any further, a hearty welcome to Brisbane should be initially extended to Godfrey and Joon (from my work). They’re back from Perth. This is the hilarious part though - Edward isn’t, as his sister PA made a mistake with his dates. It wouldn’t be so hilarious if it wasn’t so out of character for her to make that kind of error though

Soccer tonight. Can’t wait, I’m mad keen. Perhaps Godfrey wants to come along, now that he’s skinny and fit? If you read this and are keen, let me know and I’ll hook you up with some shinpads and socks. You got a blue shirt?

Haven’t seen John for a while, what with his illness and all. Hopefully he’ll be playing tonight and I can finally give him the DVDs he (and his housemate) have so frantically been looking for.

24 tomorrow. I’m thinking that I’ll be making curry - simply because it’s so easy for a large group. Brek are bringing Coke, Bryce is on snacks, and Leyton’s on double-desert, because he shirked his responsibility last week.

I’ve just got word that Chaz is sick and has gone to the vet. Simba’s pawing around the house looking for him in a pathetic kind of way. I hope that Chaz is ok. Please everyone send good vibes to him. Thanks.

Short and Sour

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2004

Well, Wednesday. I’ve been sleeping pretty awfully of late … If I didn’t get a phone call at 9:15am, who knows what time I would’ve woken up. :happysad: To be fair, though .. I was making telehone calls at 5am.

It seems like everyone who’s everyone is leaving Perth right now. Joon from work left last night, Edward leaves today, Snod leaves tonight … it’s a mass exodus.

Friday night is 24, just a reminder.
